About Me

Immigrating from Cape Town, South Africa at the age of 5 with my family of 7; learning about health and fitness was far from priority. With little education about maintaining proper health and fitness, I struggled with my weight as a teenager but realized I had to make a change. At the age of 16, I started to educate myself about the benefits of healthy eating and exercise.

At times what I thought was a healthy diet was far from sustainable, and would have done more harm than good in the long run. From taking pills such as ephedrine, caffeine and Hydroxycut, to doing the South Beach Diet, Atkins, and other fad diets, I yo-yoed for years. Going from my lightest at 105 pounds, to my heaviest at 140 pounds, I knew that it was bad news.

It was not until two years ago when I met my boyfriend he helped me gain the confidence to ditch the scale. He told me to stop fantasizing about a number, and start fantasizing about where I want to be, and how I was going to do it.

Shortly after I watched a Breakfast Television interview in July 2011 with Toronto based Nutritionista, Megan Telpner of Making Love In The Kitchen, I knew I found my passion. The more I learned about clean eating, the more I realized I didn’t know much about eating healthy.

My name is Shameen Miller, and here I am 24 years later after immigrating from the mother land, working as an accountant in finance at one of the biggest telecommunications companies in Canada, hoping that you will follow me on my journey to learn about how to eat well, exercise, live and love life in the process!
